Affirm Treatment - Affrim MultiPlex Laser Treatments
Affirm Laser Treatments - A Complete Laser Treatment—In a Fraction of the Time
Affirm laser treatment can dramatically improve your skin
- Affirm Laser Rejuvenation
By uniquely combining three leading-edge technologies, the Affirm offers you a total skin rejuvenation system that targets all layers of photodamaged and aged skin. Using 1440-nm CAP technology, the Affirm targets superficial layers of photodamaged tissue. Our state-of-the-art XPL technology enhances clinical outcomes associated with the treatment of redness and pigmentation. And Affirm's newest feature—the 1320-nm MultiPlex technology—targets deep layers of collagen structures for skin laxity and tightening.
- Affirm Laser Superior technology.
Unlike competitive technologies—which, by providing only one level of heat intensity, fail to optimize collagen production—CAP technology is a specialized optical lens array that redistributes laser energy into varied levels of heat intensities to simultaneously stimulate and remodel collagen. Since lower energy levels can be delivered to the skin without compromising effectiveness, client discomfort is significantly decreased while the healing process is rapidly accelerated.
- Affirm Laser Treatment results.
MultiPlex technology enables the sequential emission of two wavelengths in one pulse from the same delivery system. Since lower individual energy levels can now be used during treatments, discomfort is minimized and recovery is accelerated—for faster, more effective results compared to single-wavelength technologies.

What is Affirm, its configurations and applications? Affirm is the complete micro-rejuvenation workstation with the latest innovation for treating wrinkles and photo-aging. An upgrade for skin tightening is planned to be available in 2007. The 1440nm handpiece is unlike any other 1440nm laser because of Cynosure’s proprietary CAPTM technology. The optional Xenon Pulsed Light (XPL) handpiece can be ordered with the system, or added at any time. 1440nm Applications: Skin Rejuvenation, Wrinkle Reduction and Pigmented Lesions XPL Applications: Pigmented Lesions, Photo Facials and Redness
What is Affirm CAP Technology? CAP stands for Combined Apex Pulse technology. The proprietary CAP technology is specifically designed for the 1440nm Nd:YAG laser. The CAP diffractive lens array provides a unique delivery and distribution of energy to the treatment area.
How does CAP work? The CAP array is a proprietary lens con-struction that consists of approximately 1,000 diffractive ele-ments per centimeter square to affect more surface area per single pulse. CAP technology delivers “apex” pulses of high fluence regions for collagen remodeling, surrounded by a low fluence collagen stimulating treatment zone. This combined action improves treatment efficacy, while minimizing the side effects experienced with existing methods.
What does the histology show after affirm treatments? In histology, only the high fluence apex regions are visable. Histologically, the CAP apex pulse energy distribution is limited to approximately 300 microns in depth, constraining treatment to the zone of superficial photo-damage (i.e. the targeted area).
Do you need to use cooling with the Affirm Laser? Yes. Cynosure’s SmartCoolTM air cooling system attaches to the Affirm 1440nm hand piece as well as to the XPL hand piece. The air cooling increases patient comfort and avoids the necessity of using any topical anesthesia.
How much does an Affirm laser treatment hurt? The majority of treatments with the Affirm are performed us-ing the SmartCool air cooling system. Four out of five patients treated with the Affirm system do not request topical anesthesia.
How many passes are needed for a full facial treatment? Cynosure’s Affirm system typically requires 1-2 passes to ensure overlap, in addition to enhancing outcomes for the patient and the doctor.
How fast is each Affirm laser treatment? One treatment with the Affirm system takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Cynosure recommends 4-6 treatments spaced 3-6 weeks apart.
How quickly will I see results? Most patients see significant improvement within 3-4 treat-ments.
Are there any side effects? Short-term side effects can include transient
